Curriculum

We teach the same academic subjects as do government schools, i.e, Mathematics, English, French, Science, History & Geography, Health & Physical Education, Arabic, Information Technology Sudies, Arts and Morality.

We participate in the National Primary School Achievement Certificate, commonly known as "PSAC" and we use MIE textbooks.

Our School is ranked among the best of all private schools in Mauritius,

Alhamdulillah! Our last CPE results were 100% - 33% of which received star schools admission and 56% received excellent grades.

What makes us special is that on top of this, we have a very rich Islamic curriculum which includes Hifdh-ul-Qur'an, Tajweed, Islamic Studies (Allah & His attributes, good manners, the life of Muhammad (s), the life of other Prophets of Allah etc.) which are taught in class. Children also perform their Zuhr prayer on a daily basis in Jama'at and attend full Friday prayers. They are also taught all Islamic manners which are put into practice and have become part of their daily lives (for e.g, Greetings, Respect for others, Good manners, Mealtime etiquette and du'a, Ablution and du'a, Du'a when travelling ect..)

Markaz Tahfeez-ul-Qur'an

Markaz Tahfeez-ul-Qur'an is a branch of Dar-ul-Ma'arif and Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen. It is a (boarding school kind) centre in which students, boys as well as girls, stay, in a controlled environment, from Monday to Friday (after school hours) to study and memorise the Qur'an. The Markaz currently has approximately twelve residents.

Dar-ul-Ma'arif is an arabic name meaning "House of Knowledge".

We are an Islamic Educational establishment, consisting of Pre-Primary (L'Oiseau Du Paradis), Primary and Secondary levels up to High School Certificate level (and soon Tertiary Insha-Allah), based in Mauritius. We care passionately about our children's education and we do our best to help them achieve their full potential as individuals, with the help of Allah.

We are a non-profit private non-government-aided school and we rely enormously on the support of the ummah to run and maintain our school, by Allah's will. We therefore appeal to your generosity and material or/and financial contribution which for you, will transform into Thawaab Jaariyah.

Our brilliant team of experienced teachers work very hard to ensure each child receives all the basic skills as well as stretching them to our rich academic and islamic curriculum. We ensure that all of our children are well-framed, cared for and happy in our school.

The aim of Dar-ul-Ma'arif is to provide excellent academic education in a sound Islamic environment, prepare our children to face the outside world as highly educated and spiritually balanced individuals and to inculcate Qur'anic knowledge and its implementation in all spheres of life.

Our mission is to ensure that we keep the perfect balance between both Islamic and secular curriculum. We work in unity with educators as well as parents in order to help these students acquire the best academic level and a sound Islamic background so that they become balanced adults who will later cater for the Islamic society of Mauritius Insha-Allah.

Our Brief History

To help our children grow within the environment prescribed by the Almighty and produce generations imbued with the true Islamic concepts and values, the need to set up our own school was imperative. To meet this challenge and become part of the Islamic resurgence that is taking place in the world, the Dar-Ul-Ma’arif Islamic Educational Institute was founded to provide, in a humble manner, an alternative to the prevailing system.

In December 1994, the managing committee with the determination and zeal of certain parents started to operate a boarding primary school at Mont Blanc (where Vallee des Couleurs is situated). We started with seven pupils in Standard I and by the Grace of Allah the number of pupils increases consecutively in the succeeding years.

In 1997, the school was then transferred to the central part of the country more precisely at Curepipe (where it is now) in order to render it more accessible to all those opting for an Islamic education system for their children.

All praises be to the Lord of the Universe, today Dar-Ul-Ma’arif Islamic Educational Institute is a full-fledged institution consisting of Pre-primary, Primary and Secondary Schools, providing both academic and Islamic education, and catering for about 400 students.

Dar-ul-Ma'arif is an Islamic Institution which caters for the welfare of students from Pre-primary all the way to Secondary levels up to Higher School Certificate (HSC). Students are aged 3 to 18 years old. There are many students whose parents/ carers unfortunately cannot afford to pay their school fees.
